Embracing Change: The Journey Back to Our True Selves

We often think of change as something that happens to us, but what if we reframe it as something we participate in? Instead of fearing change as an external force that alters who we are, we can see it as it really is: a powerful tool to uncover who we truly are beneath the layers of old habits, fears, and beliefs.

Change Isn't Passive – It Requires Effort

Change doesn’t happen when we stay in our comfort zones. It requires us to actively step into the discomfort and uncertainty in front of us. This can be challenging, and often even scary. But every time we choose to move toward growth, we are consciously shaping our lives, not letting life happen to us.

We often resist change because it's uncomfortable, unfamiliar, and might force us to face parts of ourselves we’ve been avoiding. But resisting doesn’t stop it—it just delays the process. Real transformation begins when we stop fighting to hold onto what is no longer serving us and instead focus our energy on building something new.

Trusting the Process

One of the hardest parts of change is trusting that it's guiding us closer to our true selves. It’s easy to think that change will turn us into someone unrecognizable, or push us away from what we know and love. But, in reality, change doesn’t create a new person—it reveals the person that we have always been.

Think of it like peeling back layers of an onion. (cue Shrek monologue here)

Each layer represents the beliefs, habits, and fears we've built up over time. Some layers protect us, while others weigh us down. Through change, we gradually strip away these callouses to reveal our truest, most authentic selves underneath.

Building the New

It’s not enough to just let go of the old. Building the new is where we direct our energy. This part takes work—intentionally creating the life we want to live, aligning our actions with our values, and making choices that support our growth. It takes prioritizing yourself, showing up when you don't feel like it, and embracing the discomfort.

It’s all about being an active participant in your own evolution.

Change might feel like it's happening to you at times, but you have the power to guide it, to shape the direction it takes.

Stepping Into Our True Selves

Every moment of change brings us closer to our core essence, our real self. This isn’t about becoming someone new—it’s about uncovering who you’ve always been. See, sometimes we get lost in trying to mold ourselves to fit into certain expectations, but real growth comes from rediscovering the person you are underneath all the layers.

Final Thoughts: Embracing Change With Open Arms

So, instead of fearing change, we can approach it with open arms. Rather than viewing it as something to survive, let’s see it as an opportunity to become more aligned with our truest selves.

It’s not an easy journey, but it’s one that leads us to a deeper understanding of who we are, what we need, and how we want to show up in this world.

Let's commit to really committing to the work this week of showing up for ourselves every day as our best self, and making each decision that leads us even more towards our best self.

Stay strong,

stay empowered.
